It’s that time of the year again when we get cosy under warm quilts, munching on peanuts and sipping away a hot cup of coffee. While the merriments of winters are many, our skin certainly does not feel the same way because of the dryness the cold weather causes. Dry skin not only feels uncomfortable, but also the makeup we do on it can end up looking patchy. Therefore, skin care and appropriate skin prep is crucial for flawless looking makeup in winters.
Here I’ve listed 5 makeup essentials which will help you ace your makeup game this Winter.
- Nutrogena Hydroboost Exfoliator:
A good gentle exfoliator is the key to smooth skin. It helps to scrub off dry skin, thus making the skin feel and look smoother and softer. I recommend the Nutrogena Hydroboost exfoliator because the exfoliating particles are very fine and gentle on the skin. The skin feels soft and hydrated after use. Although it is for everyday use, I’d recommend you use it only 2-3 times a week.

- Alezem Beauty Makeup Primer Glow Serum:
Now this one is a recent find, but I’ve been really enjoying using it under my makeup or on its own as well. The best thing is that it has some amazing natural ingredients, and as the skin is already dry in winters, a hydrating primer works better. It moisturizes the skin and acts as a primer for makeup application. Take 2-3 drops and apply on skin after moisturizing your skin for additional moisture and a subtle glow.

- Maybelline Baby Lips:
Maybelline Baby Lips is my holy grail lip balm. It keeps my lips soft and adds just the perfect amount of colour for my usual no-makeup look. My favourite is Berry Sherbet. It gives the most natural looking tint to the lips which is perfect for our skin tones.

- Maybelline Instant Age-Rewind Concealer:
The Age Rewind Concealer by Maybelline is a cult favourite, and rightly so. It’s a medium coverage concealer which can be built up. The best part is that it does not cake up and has a beautiful finish.

- CotyAirspun Loose Powder:
Setting your makeup with a good powder is important for making it last long and preventing your concealer and foundation from creasing and settling into facial lines; however, if overdone can lead to makeup looking dry and powdery. I like the Coty Airspun loose powder because it is transparent and so does not add colour to your foundation and it’s very fine so gives a nice finish to the skin. I’d recommend you take a small amount on a fluffy brush and set your concealer and foundation with this powder.
