Finance Minister Asad Umar in his tweet on Thursday stated that “As part of a cabinet reshuffle PM Imran Khan desired that I take the energy minister portfolio instead of finance. However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position.”
Mr. Umar added in his tweet that he strongly believed that Imran Khan was the best hope for Pakistan and Inshallah will make a Naya Pakistan.
According to Surkhiyan sources, Imran Khan was reportedly not happy with the performance of Asad Umar as he failed to fix or address the economic issues faced by Pakistan.

A senior official working at the cabinet division told Surkhiyan “Imran Khan was extremely angry on Asad Umar because since the day he resumed the charge as finance minister he failed to address important economic issues including hike in petroleum prices, increase in the price of medicines and hike in the price of dollar.”
According to Surkhiyan sources, Asad Umar is likely to be replaced by Barrister Hammad Azhar, who is presently serving as Minister of State for Revenue. “Imran Khan is happy from Hammad as he is defending the party single handedly at all the forums,” the senior official who did not wish to be named told Surkhiyan.
However, another source believed that the next finance minister could be Hammad Azhar, Abdul Razzak Dawood or Omar Ayub Khan.
