PPP leader and the daughter of slain prime minister Aseefa Zardari-Bhutto has made her political debut with a forceful press conference at PIMS, Islamabad, the other day. Very much articulate and confident Aseefa said the doctors did not allow her to meet her ailing father, Asif Ali Zardari, who was brought from jail for medical checkup. After the test, he was brought back to hospital amid concerns of his family and party leaders.
After the hospital press conference, Aseefa spoke to the BBC Urdu service.
Also, social activist for polio eradication in the country, daughter of Asif Ali Zardari and sister of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, Aseefa Bhutto said her family had rendered sacrifices for national and political causes and only one needed to visit Garhi Khuda Bukhsh to see the heavy cost. She said she would continue to take the mission of her family. She said Bilawal Bhutto was the leader but she would look into political matters when needed.
Criticising the Imran Khan government, she said the present government had destabilised the country. Khan’s promises remained mere promises whereas the PPP was able to take steps for public services despite the world recession and natural tragedies in the country. Their government provided six million jobs and launched the Benazir Income Support Program besides the restoration of 1973 Constitution.
Concerned at her father’s poor health conditions, Aseefa also mentioned the reckless behaviour of the government and added that government’s repeated claim of not giving NRO to the opposition was beyond her imagination.
She said the NRO was neither sought today nor when his father was in jail in the past.
Highlighting the Kashmir issue, she said that Khan’s late arrival to Parliament in the joint session over the Kashmir issue was a failure. She added that Pakistan should not expect too much from the international community over Kashmir atrocities. In the closing conversations, she declared herself a good cook.
