Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) have actively started sealing plastic warehouses after their deadline has expired on Thursday.
According to Geo News, the ban on sale and purchase on plastic shopping bags has been enforced throughout the city of Quetta.
QMC’s Administrator Farooq Langove stated that twelve plastic warehouse are now sealed and their deadline has expired to halt the production and selling of plastic bags.
Langove also stated that strict action will be taken against those found to be using non-biodegradable plastic bags.
Biodegradable shopping bags must be used, he emphasised.
Similarly, throughout the country including in Karachi the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has set a deadline of June 30 for the implementation of plastic bag ban.
Last year, the Hunza district administration actively banned the use of plastic shopping bags in order to decrease the environmental degradation.
