Bilawal and Maryam are for the first time doing independent politics. Bilawal has been showing his muscles and inclination towards his own brand of politics by taking on powerful corridors of and on and much to the disappointment of his father Asif Ali Zardari.
During the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rule, he once skipped the death anniversary of his mother Benazir Bhutto to show his disapproval to his father ‘s policies. On the floor of the house, he goes ahead with his own views.
We’ve not heard Asif Zardari saying anything against the establishment or for the PTM. On the other hand, Maryam is still focused on the detention of her father Nawaz Sharif.
She hasn’t said anything meaningful so far. Ask her a question about the PTM and she’ll struggle for words. Bilawal is more groomed than Maryam but she’s more powerful than him in Punjab.

Neither are doing correct politics. One is convicted the other became active due to father’s cases and NAB.
First of all let’s talk of their collective narrative “IK is a “Selected PM”
The lady herself has never stood up for even a councilors seat, whereas Bilawal stood from four seats, he lost two seats and won from two places. So those who rejected him had little faith in the young gent and those who made him win chose the “selected option”?
Khan stood from five places and won from all. Those who helped him win had complete faith in him.
They spoke against the Budget and coined it as IMF budget. Weren’t they delivering us the same or even worse terms of budget themselves?
They keep hopscotching to Fazlur Rehman who was completely rejected by people in KP. How can he help them when his own policies in the said province never worked for the betterment of people there?
If accountability starts from daddy Bilawal coins it “politics of revenge.” How can crime committed be ignored? Have you heard such rhetoric from any other country? They keep stressing on “Mufahamat ke siyasat” which is the root of all ills in this country. To cover me and I cover you Mantra has weakened the foundations of this country. I have not once seen either of them talk about supremacy of law or Rule of Law.
So whom are they fooling? Probably themselves only because if people were buying their crooked narrative there would have been shut downs, protests (protests seen from TV screen of fifty people don’t count) the budget wouldn’t have been passed and people would have rejected actions taken by IK. Assets declaration scheme has fetched one trillion dollars, if anyone believed Maryam or Bilawal they wouldn’t have opted to declare their assets.

On the contrary, I feel Maryam is doing the right politics. Bilawal has not outgrown the shadow of Zardari, which has stunted his political growth. Whereas, Maryam on the other side displays fighting spirit that as history tells us, is liked by people.
ZAB coasted to electoral success through fore and brimstone utterances and some adroit political manoeuvring. Maryam has the same firepower and personable presence. If NS and Shahbaz go the PML N legacy belongs to her.
