Legendary comedian Amanullah on Friday passed away in a private hospital in Lahore, a news source reported. He was 70 at the time of his death. According to the actor’s family, Amanullah had been suffering from lungs, kidneys, and breathing complications.
Known for his witty humour and clever jabs, Amanullah had performed in over 2,000 plays during a career that spanned over some four decades. His versatile performances in various stage dramas – including ‘Basheera in Trouble’ – and films earned him critical acclaim and numerous accolades.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has expressed “deep sadness” at the actor’s death; further stating that “late Amanullah was a valuable asset of stage, comedy and drama industry.”
The veteran comedian is survived by his 14 children and a sister.
