Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tueday stated that there is neither threat to Pakistan’s nuclear program nor China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to The News, the Foreign Minister addressed the Senate on an adjournment motion, said there’s a consensus on both the nuclear program and CPEC and it will stay intact.

Rejecting the speculations about One Unit or Presidential system to be introduced in the country.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi also highlighted the National Finance Awards (NFC), and stated that the president established the 9thNFC award but due to the repeated requests by the former Finance Minister Asad Umer, the process of nomination of representatives was delayed by the provincial governments. He further stated that the government (PTI) will fulfill its responsibility in this regard.

In addition, the Foreign Minister said that the government is seeking an IMF package because of the extent of damage inflicted to the economy over the last ten years.

He said that friendly countries including Saudi Arabia, China and the United Arab Emirates gave the much needed balance of payment support but the gap is so huge that “we have to go to the IMF to secure economic package”.
