Maira Khan is a versatile and talented Pakistani actress and her real name is Pakiza Saeed. She is part of showbiz industry since 2008. Maira started her acting career with ‘Yaad Piya Ki Aye’ on PTV home. She is best known for her excellent dialogue delivery, expressions and timing in different roles in leading drama series including Rangeelpur, Mil Ke The Hum Na Miley, Babul, Do Saal Ki Aurat, Kanpur se Katas Tak, Teen Patti, Meri Bahuin and many more.

In 2016, Maira joined the team of acclaimed journalist Aftab Iqbal’s flagship satire infotainment show where she performs different and unique roles. This show is aired on Aap News with the name Khabarzaar hosted by Aftab Iqbal. This week, Surkhiyan had the opportunity to interview Maira about her ambitions and what characters we can expect to see her in future.

Surkhiyan: Who is your inspiration in acting?

Maira Khan: Ma’am Roohi Bano, Bushra Ansari and Babra Sharif.

Surkhiyan: Share some interesting moments from your artistic career or personal life?

MK: As a toddler I used to throw all the footwear out of our home from the 3rd floor balcony. My parents finally talked to the people living below and requested them to collect and keep all the footwear.

Surkhiyan: What is your dream role?

MK: Well, acting would be any actor’s job and a hobby so being an actor I have to do any role I get. I have to put my heart and soul in whichever role I get. But I’d like to do role Kangna did in Queen.

Surkhiyan: Did you enjoy doing mimicry on a prime time comedy show?

MK: What inspires me about doing mimicry and keeps me going is having the opportunity of creating characters and telling stories that move others in comic way. Having the opportunity of getting under the skin of another human being and living in a different set of circumstances other than mine. To create, that is absolutely thrilling and inspiring to me.

Surkhiyan: What are your upcoming projects?

MK: Currently I’m doing a show “Khabarzaar” on AAP News. Recently I have done a Web series, some commercial shoots. I’m also working on YouTube Vlog these days.

Surkhiyan: Starting from today where do you see yourself after 10 years?

MK: My best has yet to come. The next 10 years are very defining for me because I know what I have been researching on; I know what I have on hand and I know where I am going to take myself as an actress. I want to set my journey as an example to others.

Surkhiyan: Are you interested in doing movies?

MK: Of course!! I want to work in movies that entertain, engage and are viewed in posterity as creatively qualitative.

Surkhiyan: Are you interested in pursuing mimicry as a career?

MK: Mimicry is not an easy job and it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I think I’m blessed with this talent and I enjoy playing different characters.
