Karachi: The authorities concerned on Sunday said they had recovered three more bodies from underneath the debris of a residential building that collapsed earlier this week; further stating the death toll to be 25, a news source reported.
The incident, which took place in the city’s Gulbahar area on Thursday, had claimed 14 lives while causing injuries to 17 others. Rescue and security officials later retrieved bodies of multiple victims and announced that they had pulled out a boy alive from the rubble on Saturday.
Previously, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah took notice of the tragedy and a sought a detailed report on this front. He further directed Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani to ensure the smooth execution of rescue and relief operation.
According to the Sindh Police, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Mahar had tasked Central Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Arif Aslam Rao with supervising the rescue operation in the area.
