Karachi: A building collapse in the city’s Gulbahar locality on Thursday resulted in the deaths of four people; further causing injuries to 22 others, a news source reported.
A contingent of police and rangers reached the site to assist the locals who had gathered in the street following the incident.
Karachi Metropolitan Cooperation (KMC) Director Medical and Health Services Dr Salma Kauser said that the authorities concerned had shifted the injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah took notice of the tragedy and a sought a detailed report on this front. He further directed Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani to ensure the smooth execution of rescue and relief operation.
According to the Sindh Police, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mushtaq Mahar had tasked Central Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Arif Aslam Rao with supervising the rescue operation in the area.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail also took notice of the building collapse and directed the Karachi commissioner as well as the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to compile a detailed report on the five-storey residential building collapse.
