Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a press briefing stated that, there is only one umpire in Pakistan and that is the people of this country.
Bilawal stated that in a democratic Pakistan it is the will and the choice of the people which is followed and not that of any third umpires.
During his briefing, Bilawal commented that there will be a stern resistance from the PPP and other democratic parties; to the possibility of a presidential system and the roll back of the 18th Amendment. He stated that, there is no way anyone can bring such presidential system through democratic means.
Furthermore, the PPP Chairman said that his party has a strong stance on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), calling it a black law which was formulated for political engineering and vengeance during the time of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
He stated that there is a need of a new system, one system that should be across the board accountability for all. However, he added that at this moment it would be impossible to bring an entirely new system into the country. Suggesting that NAB should be brought under the rule of law as much as possible. Assuring that his party will be ready to talk if the government is ready for the changes.
The PPP Chairperson added that, since the beginning of the new government’s tenure not a single bill has been passed in the parliament or any interest has been shown on how the economy of this country will be improved.
Stressing on the importance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project Bilawal stated that there should be no compromise on CPEC and his part will not let the current government compromise, as the people of Pakistan are aware of its importance for the better future of the country.
