Pakistan’s military has offered aid to bring the rapists-killers of a 10-year-old girl to justice. The victim was abducted, brutally murdered and left to decompose in the federal capital.
According to Express Tribune, the body of 10-year-old Farishta was found on May 20 – five days after she went missing from Ali Pur Bank Stop area, near Chak Shahzad police station.
Gul Nabi the father of the girl stated that his daughter was tortured, sexually molested before she was murdered mercilessly. He further accused the police for their lack of corporation and reluctance to lodge an FIR.
According to the police, the law enforcement is investigating whether Farishta was raped and tortured. The brutal discovery of the 10-year-old girl sparked a protest and outrage on Tuesday by family, relatives. People shared their outrage on social media and empathised with the victim’s family.
The chief military spokesperson took to Twitter to condemn the “brutal murder of innocent Farishta”.

Prime Minister Imran Khan took direct action in the matter and suspended SSP Abid and made SP Umar Khan OSD (Officer on Special Duty).
Furthermore, PM Khan also asked IGP Amir Zulfiqar and DIG (operations) Waqaruddin Syed to explain the delay for not taking any timely action against the wayward police officers.
Various artists, activists, civil society members and political figures stated their concerns and urged the authorities to bring the culprits to justice. Many people used hashtag #JusticeforFarishta has been used over the microblogging social media.
