Multan: Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has stated that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will take the final decision with regard to the establishment of the south Punjab sub-secretariat, a news source reported. To this effect, he said that the premier is expected to hold a meeting with elected representatives of the region.
Talking to reports in Multan on Sunday, the foreign minister said that south Punjab should be recognised as a separate province – since it was the “wish of everyone that progress should be made on this front”.
He stated that Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar had chaired a meeting to this effect last week in Lahore. “It was decided that progress should be made over this issue,” he added. He further stated that PM Khan would meet the parliamentarians concerned to discuss the matter.
“Differences are there with regard to the establishment of the sub-secretariat in Bahawalpur or Multan and the prime minister will take a final decision,” he said.
