Prince Harry was warned by his grandfather Prince Phillip warning him not to marry the former Suits actress Meghan Markle.
According to The Sun, the Duke of Edinburgh is said to have told his grandson the Duke of Sussex that, “One steps out with actresses; one doesn’t marry them.”
The news made rounds over the weekend while Harry celebrated his first Father’s Day.
Although the grandfather and grandson’s duo is believed to be sharing a close bond, the outspoken 98-year-old Duke of Edinburgh is reported to have warned his grandson of the dangers of marrying the American actress Meghan Markel.
Prince Phillip has been part of various discussions when it came down to the topic of marriage. In 1997 Prince Phillip said, “Tolerance is the one essential ingredient. You can take it from me that the Queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance.” The alleged remark featured in a Sunday Times Magazine article by Sophie Money-Coutts.
Katie Nicholl who is a Royal expert, has previously claimed a feud arose between Princes William and Harry over the elder brother’s fears of the latter’s relationship with Meghan developing “too quickly.”
In a TLC documentary on the royals, Katie said, “William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly. And being close to Harry, you know, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry, ‘This seems to be moving quickly, are you sure’?”
She added, “And I think what was meant as well-intended brotherly advice just riled Harry up.”
The Buckingham Palace has so far declined to comment on the Phillip’s alleged statement about Meghan. The 98-year-old have attended Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May last year, amid speculation he would miss the big day while recovering from his hip replacement surgery.
The Duke of Edinburgh was also one of the first to meet Meghan and Harry’s newborn son Archie after his birth in May.
