Sri Lanka’s Easter Day bombings mastermind Zahran Hashim was trained in India, according to the sources.
According to The Hindu, a top military source in Sri Lanka revealed that Zahran Hashim spent a substantial amount of time in Southern part of India.
The report also stated that, Indian officials have presented evidences that Zahran Hashim the mastermind and leader of National Thawheed Jama’ut maintained virtual links with youths of Indian origin.
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena briefed reporters that Hashim was killed at one of the Colombo hotels which were part of the target. The Sri Lankan President further stated that, intelligence agencies have told him that Hashim was killed dring the Shangri-La attack.
The reported death toll of people who were killed in the Easter bombings were 253 people, which was later claimed by Daesh.
The Sri Lankan government later confirmed that there were 9 suicide bombers, eight of whom have been identified. Authorities have been connecting links during their investigations to international and domestic terrorist groups.National Thawheed Jama’ut and Jammiyathul Millathu Ibrahim — they believe carried out the attacks.
Hashim has appeared in a video which was released by Daesh when it claimed the strikes. In the video, Hashim is seen leading seven other men pledging allegiance to Baghdadi.
According to the police they found a Daesh flag, the backdrop and the clothes the men wore for their video in the studio in the town of Sammanthurai, 370 kilometres (231 miles) east of the capital.
