- Maryam Nawaz took the front stage while surrounded by veteran N league politicians. Sources say that she was first made privy to this video than other members of the party therefore it becomes crystal clear her stature is rising in the party.
- On a national level, Maryam Nawaz has targeted not just the already in place N league voter but has tried to prove a point amongst the section of the public that increasingly dissociated with PML-N after the resurgence of PTI. The target audience for this video is the urban middle class in Multan, Rawalpindi (and other areas in the Potohar plateau), Faisalabad, Lahore, Karachi etc. and the aim was prove that the drive against Nawaz Sharif is engineered. This video has gained credence for Maryam Nawaz in this section of the public who were already undecided in whether the accountability drive is targeted at Sharif family.
- Masses love resistance and brave politics, no matter which part of the country, and Maryam has come out all guns blazing with the video. Her popularity and ground in the party and on a national level has increased.
- The downside of this video is that she has angered the powers that be and major stakeholders in the current system. This means the accountability drive against her will increase again backed by the government. She might soon face the prospect of being behind the bars over previous cases, as witnessed, in NAB directing it’s guns at her again. This will be bad for the party and breakdown the momentum she has built.

Yes. Politically, she has gained more importance from her uncle Shahbaz Sharif and has shown her resolve to fight the government using all her firepower. That’s a fighter’s strategy. But her all fight is to gain concessions for her jailed father; no one has heard her say anything for detained PTM lawmakers, rights for Seraikis and tribal people etc. Her all politics is about and around Nawaz Sharif and her family empire. On the hand, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari whose father is also under arrest, will always keep talking about PTM, defunct Fata people and so on. That’s a difference between a core politician and a make-to-believe politician. Maryam needs to highlight a variety of issues in her talks.

The alleged video leak has almost buried Maryam Nawaz’s politics before it takes off: it was a blatant attack on judiciary: scandalising judiciary is against the constitution; it tarnished the judge who refused the story of the video. Between the lines, she maligned security institutions as well.
PML-N under Maryam proved it is not worthy of any trust by the bureaucracy, judiciary and the Establishment.
A legal-judicial process can only get Nawaz Sharif out, no other shenanigan can do.
Second tier leadership cannot stand up to Maryam Nawaz and continues to justify family’s corruption.
It is not 1980s or 1990s where PML-N can get away with attack on Supreme Court, justice Qayyum episode or Quetta money brief cases.
Already the Supreme Court has called the Sharifs Sicilian Mafia.
PML-N has to stand either with Sharifs under Maryam or the state of Pakistan— if it continues to be a private limited company of Maryam Nawaz, it will go into oblivion.

It would certainly benefit if the video is forensically proven correct. She would come across as a fighter if she remains defiant and defiance is what attracts our people to our heroes. The more the government demonizes her the more lustre would be gained by her persona.
